SpineWeb Dataset 6 (IVD Dixon MRI)

SpineWeb Dataset 6 is a small MRI collection for finding and segmenting the intervertebral discs of the lower spine. It was contributed to SpineWeb, a collection of spine imaging datasets, by Guoyan Zheng of the Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomechanics at the University of Bern. The only description is the short SpineWeb entry; no paper or data descriptor is linked from it.

Composition

8 anonymized patients. Each patient contributes four co-registered 3D volumes from a single Dixon acquisition: an in-phase, an opposed-phase, a fat and a water image. Every patient has at least 7 intervertebral discs in the field of view, covering the levels from T11 to L5. Images and masks are stored as NIfTI files, four image volumes and one mask volume per patient. The page gives no age, sex or diagnosis information.

Acquisition

All patients were scanned on a 1.5 T Siemens MRI scanner with a Dixon protocol, which reconstructs the four aligned high-resolution volumes from one acquisition. Sequence parameters, voxel size and scan sites are not stated.

Annotations

Each disc has a manual reference segmentation, delivered as one binary mask volume per patient. The page does not say who drew the masks or how they were checked.

Known limitations
