SpineWeb Dataset 1
SpineWeb Dataset 1: Cross Modality Spinal Images for Spine Workshop
30 pairs of lumbar spine CT and MR scans, each pair from the same subject, released on SpineWeb for its Spine Workshop. No ground truth labels are provided. Shared after a request form with a research description.
Overview
SpineWeb Dataset 1 is a small collection of paired lumbar spine CT and MR scans offered through SpineWeb, an online platform for spinal imaging research that also hosts several spine challenge datasets. The collection was listed as cross-modality spinal images for the Spine Workshop. Because each CT has an MR counterpart from the same person, the pairs can serve work that relates the two modalities, but the page gives no intended task.
Composition
The dataset page lists 30 pairs of spinal CT and MR images of the lumbar region, with both scans of a pair taken from the same subject. The earliest archived request page, from November 2013, listed 10 pairs. The SpineWeb news feed reports that 10 more sets were added on 17 April 2014, bringing the total to 30. No sex, age, diagnosis or split breakdown is published.
Acquisition
The page does not describe the sites, scanners, MR sequences, resolution or file format of the scans.
Annotations
None. The page states that ground truth is not yet available, and no later update adds labels.
Known limitations
- The only documentation is a three-sentence entry on the SpineWeb datasets page. There is no paper or data descriptor, so the content of the release cannot be checked before requesting it.
- No license or terms of use are published for this dataset. Access starts with a request form that asks for the applicant's institution, a short research description and the principal investigator's contact details.
- On 2026-10-09 the SpineWeb host name did not resolve, so the facts here come from archived copies of the official pages. Whether the data can still be requested is unknown.

No published license or data use terms
The data holder has published no license and no data use terms. Any use, sharing or commercial right has to be agreed with the data holder, and nothing can be assumed to be allowed. Default copyright and data protection law still apply.
The dataset page states no license or terms of use for Dataset 1. The request form asks for the applicant's institution, a brief description of the research and the details of the project's principal investigator.
