OCD baseline and capsulotomy resting-state fMRI
Quantitative Expression of Latent Disease Factors in Individuals Associated with Psychopathology Dimensions and Treatment Response
Preprocessed resting-state brain fMRI of people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and healthy controls, shared to study latent disease factors behind symptom dimensions and response to ventral capsulotomy, with pre- and post-surgery scans for a surgical subgroup.
Overview
This Zenodo record shares minimally preprocessed resting-state fMRI from people in China with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and healthy controls. It was released with a study that models OCD as a mix of latent disease factors and relates each person's factor expression to symptom dimensions and to the outcome of ventral capsulotomy, a neurosurgical lesion procedure for treatment-refractory OCD. The record is under CC BY 4.0 and needs no account.
Composition
The baseline set holds 104 patients with OCD and 82 healthy controls, drawn anonymously from the authors' institutional database. The phenotype table lists two collection sites, the Institute of Neuroscience (142 people) and RuiJin Hospital (44). It also flags 15 people (12 patients, 3 controls) as filtered out of the authors' analysis. Of the baseline patients, 27 refractory cases had a ventral capsulotomy and complete MRI and clinical follow-up; they come as two separate archives with scans before and after surgery, plus a table of the interval between surgery and follow-up. Clinical scores are the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS), the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, together with age, sex, education, handedness, illness duration and age at onset.
Acquisition
Only resting-state functional images are shared, one NIfTI file per person in the baseline archive. They were minimally preprocessed with Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM); the record points to two earlier papers by the same group for the pipeline, the inclusion criteria and the surgical procedure. Scanner, field strength and sequence parameters are not stated in the record.
Known limitations
- No raw or structural images are included, so the data cannot be reprocessed from scratch.
- Part of this cohort was used in earlier publications, so findings are not independent of that work.
- The two sites are not separated in the archive, and acquisition details per site are not documented.
- Some clinical values are missing and marked with a slash in the tables.
- The capsulotomy archives are RAR files and their contents were not checked for this entry.
