Feedback and Learning Pace Memory fMRI
The Effects of Feedback Availability and Valence on Memory Performance in Self-Paced and Fixed-Paced Learning
Task fMRI study of participants learning items at their own pace or at a fixed pace, with or without feedback and with reward or punishment feedback. Only group-level SPM results and behavioral tables are public; individual scans are not shared.
Overview
This Science Data Bank record comes from a task fMRI study at Guizhou Normal University on how people allocate study time. Participants learned material either at their own pace or at a pace set by the experimenter, and the study varied whether feedback was given at all and whether it signalled reward or punishment. The record was deposited by Liangzhi Jia, first published on 3 April 2026 and updated to version 2 on 7 April 2026. It is curated by the Psychological Science Data Bank community.
Composition
The record description reports 60 participants with behavioral and fMRI results. Age, sex, health status and recruitment are not stated. The deposit has 173 files (about 107 MB) in two folders. The fMRI folder has one SPM model per task phase (learning, judgment of learning and test) and per comparison (feedback against no feedback, reward against punishment), six models in all. Each model has beta, contrast, t and F maps, residual and mask images, and the SPM.mat and batch files. Some folders add region-of-interest definitions and extracted values for regions such as the insula, angular gyrus, superior frontal gyrus and caudate, and rendered figures. The behavioral folder holds test-phase accuracy tables and SPSS output files.
Acquisition
The record names task fMRI only. Scanner, field strength, sequences, structural scans and preprocessing are not described.
Known limitations
- Only group-level statistics are public. Raw, preprocessed and per-subject images are not shared, so the cohort cannot be reanalysed at the subject level from this record.
- No study paper or data descriptor is linked from the record and none was found, so the design is known only from the title, keywords, short description and folder names.
- Demographics and acquisition details are missing.
- File and folder names are in Chinese.

Aggregate numbers from the sources below. Bars are relative to the 60 subjects.
Contrast / sequence
Groups can overlap
- BOLD fMRI 60 100%

The data are not available outside the institution or study that holds them
The public Science Data Bank record holds only derived files: six group-level SPM models (learning, judgment of learning and test phase, each for feedback versus no feedback and for reward versus punishment) with beta, contrast, t and F maps, masks and SPM.mat files, region-of-interest extractions, figures, and behavioral accuracy tables. No raw, preprocessed or per-subject images are deposited and no other route to them is given.
